Background

Based in Kolbermoor, D.M. Cases plans custom flightcases for instruments, event equipment, film, mobile kitchens and workstations. Each build has its own shape, interior and purpose. The new website needed to make this range visible and help visitors bring their ideas to Drago Mikudim with the information needed for a useful enquiry.

The challenge

A photograph shows the finished case, but does not explain what information an enquiry requires. The task therefore combined an engaging way to explore the photo archive with practical guidance on equipment, dimensions, fittings and transport. Visitors needed to be able to choose the spatial experience or view the same photographs in a conventional gallery.

Our solution

We developed a website in cobalt blue and silver, with large typography and a backstage atmosphere. At its centre is the walk-through 3D reference hall “Backstage with Drago”: an oversized open flightcase becomes a digital exhibition space. It presents 118 original photographs in 57 photo series across three areas: instruments and stage, film and workstations, and custom formats. Visitors can select an area, follow a guided tour or move freely through the hall. Photographs can be approached and enlarged, with additional views available. The architecture is digitally designed; the photographs come from Drago’s archive. A separate gallery provides search and area filters without 3D.

A special detail

A seven-step enquiry assistant collects the intended use, equipment, dimensions, interior, fittings, transport and contact details. It prepares an email draft that visitors send themselves through their email application. An equipment summary, text copy, print view and saved drafts support the process. A rack planner, packing layout with movable items and overlap indicators, and a tour checklist provide further preparation tools. Their output provides a basis for discussing the custom build.

The website has three editorial versions: German, English and Bavarian. Product and material pages, plus eight articles in each version, connect the experience with practical information. The hall loads only when deliberately opened; text size, contrast and reduced-motion settings offer additional ways to access the site.

The work shown here is a completed demo. The new client website is not yet publicly online. The client launch is being prepared; no publication date has been set.
